After Midnight

You're in a dread that we both share,
But you will wake to the world you dare
Whilst I remain forever, here.
We're realms apart, but I'm always near.
You live your life in chronic doubt,
Always wondering when you'll have out,
As you pray to all the gods that be;
That your road in life does lead to me.
It does, I tell you. Just hold on.
I'm waiting for you, I swear upon
The core of my innermost soul.
Now but in dreams I can ease the toll
Of life's injustice, pain unearned,
And the harsh lessons that must be learned
To understand duality.
